MADE IN JAPAN
INTRODUCING THE SEED TO SUNSET JACKET
With Seed to Sunset, we introduce our first Made in Japan garment.
A light summer jacket, created entirely within Japan - bringing material, process, and craftsmanship into closer alignment.

PROCESS
From studio to final form
From our studio by the sea in Shirahama to our local production partner, jiji, each step is carried out with intention. Embroidery is done in-house, as it always has been — slowly and without compromise. From there, the garment moves through a small, local production flow, where each piece is handled with the same level of care.
Working in this way allows for a different kind of connection — to the material, to the process, and to the people behind both.
FABRIC
Material in its natural state

The jacket is built from a hemp-cotton fabric produced in Japan.
It is left undyed, allowing the natural character of the fibers to remain visible. Small variations in the cotton create subtle differences in texture and tone, giving each piece a slightly different surface.
Rather than controlling the material completely, we allow it to remain as it is - shaped by its origin.
EMBROIDERY
Motif shaped over time

Across the jacket, the collection’s motif appears in considered placements.
At its center is a coral form - a shape that grows slowly, shaped by its surroundings over time. It reflects a process of accumulation rather than construction, aligning with how we approach both design and making.
Each embroidery is completed in our Shirahama studio, carrying forward a process that has been part of the brand since the beginning.
DETAILS
Small elements, gradual change

The details follow the same approach.
Bamboo buttons, sourced domestically, begin light and gradually darken with time. As they age, they shift in tone - not as wear, but as part of the garment’s life.
Pockets, sleeves, and collar are reinforced with double stitching — adding both durability and a slightly more rugged character to the piece. A quiet structural detail, intended to support the garment over time.
These are small changes, but they accumulate.
MANUFACTURING
Consistency through proximity

The jacket is constructed locally in Shirahama with support from jiji, a small scale manufacturer.
Each piece is sewn by the same artisan, ensuring consistency and a level of attention that is difficult to replicate at scale.
The close proximity of our respective ateliers naturally brings the design and tailoring closer together.
